Phenomenon, causes, and solutions when the boiler is full of water
1、 Phenomenon:
1. If the water level is not visible or not present, a high water level alarm will sound;
2. The steam temperature decreases, and white steam is visible in the main steam isolation valve and steam engine inlet valve of the boiler;
3. Water shock occurs in the steam turbine or steam pipeline;
4. The feedwater flow rate is abnormally higher than the steam flow rate.
2、 Reason:
1. Automatic water supply switch to manual, causing abnormal increase in water supply;
2. The safety valve on the steam drum or steam header acts, causing the water level to rise or carry water;
3. The boiler's evaporation capacity exceeded the load significantly, resulting in co evaporation of steam and water.

1. The automatic switch of water supply to manual causes an abnormal increase in water supply;
2. The safety valve on the steam drum or steam collection box acts, causing the water level to rise or carry water;
3. The boiler's evaporation capacity is overloaded, resulting in co evaporation of steam and water.
3、 Handling method:
When the boiler steam pressure and water supply pressure are normal, and the water level in the steam drum rises beyond+50mm, the following measures should be taken:
1. Compare and flush the two water level gauges to check if their indications are correct.
2. Change the water supply regulation from automatic to manual, close the manual water supply valve, reduce the total regulating valve, and reduce the water supply volume.
If the water level inside the steam drum still rises after the above treatment, and exceeds+75mm, the following measures should be taken:
1. Open the emergency drain valve of the steam drum, and immediately close it when the water level reaches the normal level.
2. According to the steam temperature, turn down or close the cooling water valve, open the main steam pipe drain valve and the superheater drain valve.
After treatment, the water level of the steam packaging continues to rise. When it exceeds the visible water level on the upper part of the steam packaging water level gauge, the boiler should be shut down urgently, disconnected from the main pipe as soon as possible, the water inlet should be stopped immediately, the recirculation valve should be opened, and the boiler drainage should be strengthened. Pay attention to the appearance of the water level on the upper part of the steam packaging water level gauge, and close it after the water level reaches the normal level. After the standby furnace is normal, it can be operated by heating the hot furnace.
If the water level cannot be seen in the steam drum water level gauge and is not detected in a timely manner, the following measures should be taken:
1. Compare and flush the two water level gauges to check if the indications are correct. Open all the drain valves on the steam drum water level gauge, then slowly close the drain valves. If there is a water level in the water level gauge and it continues to be filled, it proves that the boiler water level has not exceeded the steam side pipe of the water level gauge, and emergency shutdown should be carried out.
2. Open the drain valve on the water level gauge and slowly close it, but the water level cannot be seen inside the gauge. To confirm severe water saturation, close the steam water valve, open the drainage valve, discharge the water from the water level gauge, and immediately close the drainage valve. Quickly and slightly open the steam valve water level gauge, fill it with water, and only then can it be determined that the water level exceeds the steam side pipe of the steam level gauge. Emergency shutdown should be carried out, and the main pipe should be disconnected as soon as possible.
When a water level accident occurs in a boiler, if it is difficult to determine the water level, the boiler should be immediately shut down. After shutdown, use the method of calling water to check the water level of the steam drum.Author：Mr.D
